I Didn't Think They Printed Books Like This Any More

Where to start singing the praises?

How about the request that anyone who finds an inaccuracy or misprint contact the publisher, with an address for that right next to the "this book is lost, return it to:" page?

Everything from Algebra to Zinc sheeting gauge tables is in this book, which fits in the space from the pad on the base of my thumb to the end of my little finger in length and the width of my hand when closed. Its about as thick as the end joint on my index finger, and it's packed with stuff you'll need at some time or other.

Need to identify a fastener or bolt? Done. Want to know how much dirt is in that pile over there (or conversely, how much of your driveway will be lost to x cubic yards of dirt)? Done. Log tables (remember them)? Done. Want to learn to tie a bowline and a sheepshank? Done. Need the melting point of lead? done. Need to know exactly how many "6 inch wide" boards you'll need for your deck that you sized in real inches? Done.

Time zones? Done. Area codes? Done. Military ranks so you don't look like an arse when you meet a person on active service? Done. Need to know what day your wife's birthday will fall on every year from now 'til next muckspreading? Done.

Take the stuff you used to get in the ends of diaries when we were kids. Add all the stuff you find in the appendices of Big-ass Dictionaries. Add in the actually useful stuff from the old OU Science Data Book. Now pack it all in a pocket-sized book.

This will bring out the inner eight year old in everyone and is about as useful as a Swiss Army Knife welded to a Leatherman Wave.

And it is all organized into sensible sections. If you need something mathy, you'll find it in a "math" section. Need a day/date and you'll be wading into the perpetual calendar. There's sections on carpentry, computers, cars. If you walk into a lamppost while reading, there's a section on first aid, and once properly recovered you'll be able to identify various properties of the post by looking up the metals section.

Excellent resource

Sure, in today's digital age, one could easily and quickly look up facts or information with their phones.. But a signal isn't always available, and only 46% of Americans even *own* a smartphone. I'm among those 54%, and this is so immensely chock-full with facts and information that I probably still won't even need one. Now all that's left is to familiarize myself with the table of contents..

This book pretty well has every bit of information that could be useful in everyday life, things from chemistry, mathematical formulas, electrical wiring, tools, fasteners (bolts, screws nails, and their best uses), there's airport codes in it, area codes, glues, solvents and paint, general science, conversion tables, and even knots. There's a little bit of everything for both the handyman at home and science oriented people. It's a great reference to have.

The only detraction on this is the print is incredibly tiny. For me that's fine, but my father couldn't read it. So I purchased the desk ref edition for him and kept the pocket ref for myself. Great books, the both of them. Just keep in mind if your eyesight is a bit poorer you may want to grab the desk ref version instead. For someone like my father who is getting up there in age and eyesight not as great, I would highly recommend the desk version over the pocket version. Desk Ref, Hard Cover

My husband and I lived in Bulgaria for a few years and the recipes in this book were exactly what I was looking for.
My grandchildren have also been to Bulgaria and were so excited to see the recipes of foods they ate while there. It is very well done, and I can't wait to have a Bulgarian dinner with friends.

It's so hard to find the exact translations for many Eastern European ingredients and food items.
This book not only has great recipes and pictures, it also gives a short description of where the food originated, some history and the US available ingredients.
It has some very yummy looking recipes, and I can't wait to try them out.
Like everything in Romanian cuisine, don't expect these to be 15 minutes meals. But delicious, no question.
It even has a recipe for cozonac, so it's perfect for the holidays.
Great looking little book, with lots of interesting ideas, facts, a bit of history, great recipes and beautiful pictures.

Laura L. Koppesis owner/president of LK Associates, a human resources,� organizational development, and leadership consulting firm. Prior to full-time consulting, she worked in higher education, with the most recent appointment as associate vice president of institutional effectiveness and associate professor of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology.�As a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, she taught and conducted research at the University of Hradec Kr�lov� and University of Pardubice in the Czech Republic.�Laura established the position of Historian for the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and contributed to the preservation of SIOP’s history and I-O psychology through international and national presentations, publications, and other documents.�She served as Membership Chair on the Executive Committee of the Society for the History of Psychology (American Psychological Association-Division 26).�Her interests include leadership, organizational effectiveness, motivation, cross-cultural differences, climate and culture (making great places to work), and history of I-O psychology.�She is a member of SIOP and is currently the Editor ofTIP(The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist).�She is also a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the International Association for Applied Psychology, and the Society for Human Resources Management.�She earned her B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. in I-O psychology from The Ohio State University.

Historical Perspectives in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (Applied Psychology Series)This book provides an extensive and extremely comprehensive range of issues and the science behind the research of these issues in industrial and organizational psychology. Each chapter varies in the quality of information presented. The book is, nonetheless, valuable for a multiple perspective understanding and a source for detailed research. The information provided is material that students of industrial and organizational psychology should find essential for their understanding of important issues faced in the field today. It is an excellent research resource for students of the history of the scientific work achieved so far in this field.

About the Author

Marilyn A. Reba is a senior lecturer and Douglas R. Shier is a professor emeritus, both in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Clemson University. The logical underpinnings of this textbook were developed and refined throughout many years of classroom feedback and in response to commentary from presentations at national conferences. Selected material from this book is currently being used in the Department of Mathematical Sciences’ liberal arts mathematics course and in a problem-solving course in the Honors College.

About the Author
Roy Hunter MS, CHt teaches professional hypnosis and advanced techniques to professionals, and in addition he also teaches self-hypnosis to groups and clients for personal or professional motivation. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in clinical hypnotherapy (for lifetime achievement) from St. John's University in 2004 and in 2009, he was awarded a PhD from Alpha University and California University with a major in clinical hypnotherapy. In-depth introducion to hypnotherapy for the professional

This is the companion volume to C Roy Hunter's excellent introduction to hypnosis, the Art of Hypnosis. Although it can be read on it's own, parts of this book are more understandable if you have already read the Art of Hypnosis. Hunter has an informal, first-person style of writing that makes the book enjoyable to read. This book is an excellent reference for both beginning and experienced hypnotherapists that is packed with philosophy, strategies, techniques, and scripts. It is intended for professionals and is probably not appropriate for someone who is only casually interested in hypnosis.

Must Have Book for the Hypnotherapist

At the Banyan Hypnosis Center for Training & Services, Inc. I recommend this book along with Mr. Hunter's book, The Art of Hypnosis, to all of our students. It provides a wealth of hypnotherapeutic techniques. It is a true "hand book" of hypnotherapy. If you practice (or intend to practice) hypnotherapy your library is not complete without this book.

Not my favorite

Come on Roy, take some credit. We all learned from someone somewhere. It's so distracting to read about your late mentor all of the time. Crediting him discredits you somehow. Haven't you embellished and made your own what you've put into practice all of these years. I can see how it would be hard to stop crediting Charlie now since it's become your signature and all, but reading about your late mentor continually has made me put the book down. That, and, having experienced therapy for a time, I'm not a believer that identifying the problem, in or out of trance, helps to release the problem.
Also, the warning that you can give your clients false memories by asking leading questions is unfounded. I actually like Yapko's books a little better as he has more scientific resources backing up what he writes. Some friends recommended your work so I know you are loved, but it just doesn't do it for me.

About the Author

Betty Jane Punnett (Ph.D. NYU) is Professor of International Business & Management at the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill). Her recent books include Management: A Developing Country Perspective (Routledge), International Perspectives on Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, 3rd edition, and Experiencing International Business and Management, 3rd edition (M.E. Sharpe).

Bill Buenar Puplampu (PhD; C.Psychol) is an Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Chartered Psychologist (BPS), and Dean of the Central Business School of Central University College, Ghana. His work has appeared in Business and Society Review, Acta Commercii, Ife PsycholoGIA, European Business Review, Canadian Journal of Development Studies and Consulting Psychology Journal.

Dr. Terri R. Lituchy (Ph.D.University of Arizona) is an Associate Professor of International Management at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Terri’s publications include Successful Professional Women of the Americas (2006), Gender and the Dysfunctional Workplace (Elgar, 2012) and Management in Africa (Routledge, 2012).

Excellent edit book by Terri Lituchy, Betty Jane Punnett and Bill Puplampu that includes research in Africa that has not been published before. There are papers from across Africa on a variety of business management topics. This book would be useful for practioners, scholars and students.
