About the Author
The late Willard G. Oxtoby was Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto, where he launched the graduate program in the study of religion.
Amir Hussain is a Professor in the Department of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.

A good option for World Religion courses

I have taught courses on world religions for several years now and I personally think this is a great book for as in-depth an examination as is possible in a first or second year course. Students respond well to its liberal use of pictures, colour and primary text citations.

Textbook for university class, not boring at all!

This is a required text for a religion class at my university. It was much cheaper than the bookstore price for used, and this was a new book. The book itself is very logically laid out, and makes what could be boring material pretty interesting. It won't keep you awake if you're tired, but the reading assignments are not such a chore. I'm probably not going to sell it back for the pennies on the dollar that the school bookstore offers for used books, as it is actually a fairly interesting book if your like to read about how religions started, evolved, and what they have in common or what differences they have. The author really seems unbiased toward either of the three covered, too. And the seller got it to me in the two days promised by Prime, so that experience was great! Thanks!!
